Watch Details:
The Rolex Submariner 16610 is a classic dive watch. But if you want something newer with better looks and toughness, check out the Rolex Submariner 116610. This version came out from 2010 to 2020. The big upgrade? A ceramic bezel. That’s why watch lovers and collectors really dig it.
The Rolex Submariner 116610 is a game-changer. It switched from aluminum to ceramic bezels – that’s a big deal in watchmaking. This change makes the watch way more scratch-proof. Plus, it keeps its shine looking fresh for years. It’s got this cool all-black look – dark dial with a matching ceramic bezel. Super classy but still keeps that tough Submariner vibe.
Inside, it’s got the 3135 movement. This thing’s bulletproof – keeps great time and winds itself like a champ. It’s waterproof to 300m and has that one-way bezel – classic dive watch stuff. The big glow-in-the-dark markers mean you can always tell the time, no matter where you are.
They stopped making it in 2020, so now it’s a collector’s favorite. It hits that sweet spot between old-school style and new tech. The steel case and band make it tough as nails. That ceramic bezel? Just enough bling to make it special. This watch shows why Rolex is the best – always improving but never cutting corners. That’s why serious watch fans love it.
On the used market, the 116610 is super popular. If you find one in good shape like this, it’s a great buy. Doesn’t matter if you’re a pro collector or just starting out. This watch is both a solid investment and a piece of Rolex history that’ll only get more valuable.

FAQs and Reviews
[WTS] Rolex Submariner Date ref. 16610 circa 1995
- AndSoItBegins-Again: Well, this certainly looks uniquely sophisticated in a way that gives this watch a lot of character. In my opinion. And I’m generally a purist too.
- RE-Travis: Just got the call for a 126619LB. This sure makes me reconsider. Love to hear from you if you find a 1994 model!
- The_OG_Metals_Guy: It is really nice. I’d honestly consider it, but it is priced a bit too high given the market right now.
- Shiny-And-New: Saying it comes with the original insert when clearly the original insert is pretty well fucked up is kind of disingenuous
Submariner 16610 Service; Does Rolex Service Decrease Value?
- I had the movement serviced locally about 10 years ago, just regular maintenance.
- I recently discovered the cyclops lens was cloudy and took it to an AD.
- Would getting a full service to restore the watch to like-new condition; you know, “the works” so to speak, replacing the crystal, restoring case and bracelet finish, movement restoration and all that stuff … DEcrease the value and collectibility of the watch?
- I asked Grok AI how service would impact the value and it said it would reduce its collectibility and decrease the value, since collectors prefer “patina” yada yada.
- That seems ridiculous to me if Rolex will replace parts with genuine Rolex parts, then shouldn’t it increase the value if it’s made to be good as new?
- I’d still have time to back out if I needed to, but I don’t think Rolex will address just the cyclops; they had a lot more stuff included in their “required” service proposal.
